A Brief Bio
The band "ABSTRACT" was founded in 1992 by NASA Engineers, Walter Robinson and Tommy Thompson. The group consists of very talented musicians who reside in Huntsville, Alabama,
and have performed together for a number of years. Mr. Tyrone Douglas, the bassist, has performed with many notable Huntsville bands and musicians. Mr. Larue Larry is an excellent drummer/vocalist.
He has performed with some of the best R&B, Jazz, and Blues artists in the area and was a touring musician while residing in Texas. The guitarist/vocalist is Mr. Tommy Thompson. He was an
original member of the well-known Huntsville band, Riapsedon. Mr. Walter Robinson is the saxophonist and has performed with Birmingham-based Royal Flush band and other great Huntsville musicians.
Among some of the band's most notable accomplishments are performing as the opening act for Mrs. Patti LaBelle, opening performance for RCAs Jazz recording artist, Mr. Jonathan Butler and world
renowned bassist Mr. Otiel Burbidge. Other events include: Big Springs Jam 94, 95, 97, 98, 02, 03 (Huntsville, Al), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) activities, Jazz-N-June 94 thru 05,
Concerts In the Park 97 thru 05, Panoply 98 thru 00 and numerous weddings, private parties, and banquets.
The band was also selected to provide the musical entertainment for the premier of one of HBOs (Home Box Office) Tom Hanks movies: "From the Earth to the Moon."
